Southern Style Cream Cheese Pound Cake

Jenny DeRemer

Combine basic ingredients effortlessly and whip up a quick and delightful cake batter, resulting in a perfectly dense, tastefully divine, old-fashioned cream cheese pound cake.

Let’s get started!

"Have I mentioned this is a two-step method? TWO steps yield this rich pound cake...two steps to crafting an old-fashioned dessert worthy of Southern baker's acclaim!"

– butter – cream cheese – granulated sugar – eggs – cake flour – vanilla extract

A Few of The Ingredients You Will Need

Preheat Your Oven

While the oven comes to temperature, grease a tube pan with butter or shortening to prevent the cake from sticking.

Cream Butter and Cream Cheese

Mix until very smooth, then gradually add the sugar and beat for 5 full minutes.

Add The Eggs

Beat until just blended, then add the flour and the vanilla extract. The batter is done - that was easy, right?

Bake The Cake

Pour the thick batter into the pan you prepared and pop it into the hot oven. Once the cake is done baking, you will want to cool it in the pan for 20 minutes.

Cool Completely

Due to the generous sugar content in this cake, look for a crackly, crispy crust to form on the surface of the cake as it cools. Talk about reinforcing homemade!

Glaze or Leave Plain

Serve thick slices of pound cake with or without a drizzle of your favorite glaze, or layer with a fruity compote and freshly whipped cream.
