Seek out square slices of a hearty white bread...

Ingredients

iceberg lettuce

ripe tomato

...and you'll want to cook up some nice thick cut bacon.

Preparation

arrange bread slices on a baking sheet (3 slices for each sandwich) and turn on your ovens broiler

Step 1

Prep the Bread

...use a pastry brush to lightly brush olive oil on one side of each piece of bread, then toast under the broiler on both sides for about 30 seconds

Step 2

Prep the veggies

Slice a large, very ripe tomato or several small tomatoes, and 'stack' the lettuce leaves...

Step 3

Portion the Deli Chicken 

Fold 4 (or more!) slices of deli chicken or turkey meat over on their sides...

Step 4

Begin Assembly!

Lay the bread, oiled side up, on a work surface and apply mayo and a pinch of black pepper to every slice. Evenly layer the chicken or turkey, then lettuce, followed by another slice of prepared bread.

Step 5

Layer Number Two!

Atop the second bread slice, arrange the bacon, Swiss, more lettuce leaves, and tomato slices, followed by the top slice of bread. Secure tightly with cocktail or frill picks.

Step 6

Cutting The Sandwich

Then cut into triangles in a diamond pattern, corner to corner, and repeat.
