This EASY five-ingredient Honey Mustamaise recipe is the perfect sauce. Not only for dipping, but can double as a salad dressing, or in my case, as the perfect go-to condiment for a colossal California club sandwich. Mustamaise is a delicious mix of mustard mayonnaise which is the best of both worlds.

Okay, it may seem silly to focus on something as trivial as dressings or condiments, but when that turkey and avocado club on sourdough comes together, trust me when I profess the homemade Honey Mustamaise is going to glue it all together with a honneyed creaminess unlike that of plain old mayo.  

Versatility lies in that it can be made thicker or thinner based on what it will be used for and keeps for weeks in the refrigerator covered. If you require more mustard flavor than a prepared mustard delivers, experiment with dry mustard in combination with prepared.

Honey Mustamaise, Not Just A Chicken Nugget Sauce

Grilling tonight? Here is a sauce which works perfect as a baste for chicken breasts on the grill.
As an alternative to Ranch, Honey Mustamaise is absurdly wonderful served with raw vegetable cruditรฉ.
Not so plain mashed potatoes when a dollop or three of Honey Mustamaise is added for a pop of flavor.
By simply adding a little additional vinegar to thin it out, this is by far the BEST salad dressing.
Brushed on cooked carrots, this lends an almost umami flavor profile.
Have fish? Spoon onto salmon or Swordfish before baking and again just before cooking is complete.

INGREDIENTS FOR HONEY MUSTAMAISE

1/3 cup Dijon mustard or whole grain mustard or a combination of both!

ยผ cup honey

ยผ to ยฝ cup mayonnaise

1 to 2 teaspoons white vinegar

A pinch or three of cayenne pepper

How to make Five Ingredient Honey Mustamaise

Whisk all ingredients in a small mixing bowl or glass measuring cup. Using the back of a spoon to gauge consistency, if you desire a thicker base for use as a baste or spread, add additional mayonnaise and mustard. If you desire a thinner base to use as a salad dressing or glaze, increase the white vinegar. Taste as you go and adjust accordingly.
