This EASY Five-Ingredient, Honey Mustamaise recipe is the perfect sauce for dipping and as a salad dressing or condiment for sandwiches. It’s tangy, sweet, the tiniest bit zippy, and can be made in 5 minutes!
I take my condiments seriously, especially when I find something worthy of a double dip, such as my London pub steak sauce. If you plan to build the perfect salad or sandwich, why not take the extra time to reach for more than just the mayo?
Okay, it may seem silly to focus on something as trivial as dressings or condiments, but when that turkey and avocado club on sourdough comes together, trust me when I profess the homemade Honey Mustamaise is going to glue it all together with a creaminess unlike that of plain mayo. ย
Versatility lies in that it can be made thicker or thinner based on what it will be used for and keeps it covered for weeks in the refrigerator. If you require more mustard flavor than prepared mustard delivers, experiment with dry mustard in combination with prepared.
Honey Mustamaise, Not Just A Chicken Nugget Sauce
- Grilling tonight? This sauce works perfectly as a baste for chicken breasts on the grill.
- As an alternative to Ranch, Honey Mustamaise is absurdly fabulous when served with raw vegetable cruditรฉ.
- Not so plain mashed potatoes when a dollop or three of Honey Mustamaise is added for a pop of flavor.
- By simply adding a little additional vinegar to thin it out, this is by far the BEST salad dressing.
- Brushed on cooked carrots, this lends an almost umami flavor profile.
- Have fish? Spoon onto salmon or Swordfish before baking and again just before cooking is complete.

I love honey mustard dip and when we go to McDonald’s, we always get the chicken and ask for extra containers of the honey mustard. I have been trying to concoct my own and now I will try your version. I hadn’t put vinegar in mine, so that will probably make it just right!
Barbara! Swing back by and let me know your thoughts! I love this on salad, pasta salad, steak fries, chicken fingers, and a big club sandwich. I swear this works with so much that it’s pretty much fail-proof! Jenny
